Commissioner's Violence Reduction Network leads coordinated knife crime crackdown

Published on: 26 October 2026

Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw, joined partners in Blackpool as Lancashire’s Violence Reduction Network (LVRN) unveiled plans to tackle knife crime with the support of the Home Office’s Knife Crime Concentration Fund.

Representatives from policing, local authorities, education, criminal justice, health and community organisations came together in a collaborative effort to discuss how £600,000 secured through the fund will be invested in targeted activity across Lancashire areas identified as being at greatest risk of serious violence.

Using detailed analysis and local intelligence, the LVRN has developed a targeted delivery plan that directs resources to where they can have the greatest impact, while addressing the underlying causes of violence and supporting those most at risk.

Following the event Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said:

“Knife crime cannot be tackled by policing alone. Through my Violence Reduction Network, partners from across policing, education, health, local authorities and the voluntary sector are working together to identify risks, intervene early and prevent harm before it occurs.

“Using data, evidence and local insight, we are ensuring resources are focused where they can have the greatest impact, protecting vulnerable people and addressing the root causes of violence.

“Behind every knife crime statistic is a victim, a family and a community affected by violence. Through collaboration, intervention and enforcement activity, we can ultimately reduce harm and ensure Lancashire remains one of the safest places to live, work and visit.”

Daniel Whitaker, Knife Crime Sergeant, said:

“The strength of our partnerships across Lancashire is one of our greatest assets. Working alongside local authorities, health, education and community organisations allows us to identify those most at risk, provide support at the earliest opportunity and take action where it is needed most.

“Through Sceptre, Lancashire’s coordinated response to knife crime, we are working with partners year-round to prevent and tackle knife crime in Lancashire. This funding gives us an important opportunity to build on that collaborative approach, target activity in key areas and drive lasting reductions in knife crime and serious violence.”
