35 PCs sworn in as part of Police Constable Entry Programme

Published on: 21 October 2026

Lancashire Police have welcomed a total of 63 new Police Constables in the latest attestation ceremonies held on Tuesday 6th October and Thursday 8th October at their Headquarters in Hutton.

The new cohort of PCs were sworn in in the presence of a presiding magistrate, members of the Chief Officer Team (COT) and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).

Representing Lancashire’s tenth Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) intake, the new officers promised to uphold the key values and principles that the force expects from all within the organisation.

Their attestation ceremony is an important moment for all police officers as they embark on a career in policing.

There were so many students on the latest PCEP course that two attestation ceremonies had to be held, on Tuesday 6th October and Thursday 8th October.

Chief Constable Sacha Hatchett attended both attestation ceremonies.

She was joined by Assistant Chief Constable Stasia Osiowy and Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw at the first attestation ceremony on the Tuesday and T/ACC Hassan Khan and Deputy Commissioner Kimberly Whitehead at the ceremony on the Thursday.

The pledge made by every new officer underlines their commitment to serve Lancashire Police and the public with fairness, integrity, diligence, and impartiality throughout their time in post.

Now that they have sworn an oath to the King, the new recruits have been granted their policing powers, including the power to arrest.

Clive Grunshaw, Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner said:

“It’s heartening to see the passion our new officers bring as they start their careers in policing, working hard to tackle crime and protect the people of Lancashire.

“The public rightly expect to see more officers out on our streets – visible, engaged, and making a real difference, tackling the issues that matter most to people in their local area.

“That’s exactly what my Police and Crime Plan, together with the Government’s Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee, is delivering.

“As the public’s voice in policing, I’m working to make the county safer, a commitment that underpins everything my Office and I do. Every officer and staff member plays a vital role in delivering on the priorities that matter most to the public, and I will hold the Chief Constable to account for achieving the highest standards across the county.”

Chief Constable Sacha Hatchett, who attended both attestation ceremonies, said:

“The attestation ceremony remains one of the defining occasions in every officer’s policing career. The presentation of warrant cards to our newest officers, in the presence of family and friends, serves as a powerful reminder of the values and responsibilities at the heart of policing.

“Having successfully completed a rigorous selection process, these officers have shown determination and commitment, and we are confident they will serve the people of Lancashire with professionalism, compassion and integrity.

“This ceremony signifies more than the start of a career. It reflects a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable people, engaging with communities, and leading with honesty and transparency. Entrusted with the responsibility of upholding the law, these officers must consistently demonstrate the highest standards of conduct. I look forward to seeing them progress in their careers and contribute positively to communities across Lancashire.”
