Commissioner marks first National Cadets Week

Published on: 9 October 2026

Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner thanked over 70 young people for being part of the policing family during the first ever National Cadets Week.

Commissioner Clive Grunshaw talked to the county’s cadets at Lancashire Constabulary’s headquarters about his role in setting the strategic direction for the force and the key priorities he’s delivering to help make the county safer.

He highlighted the value that the cadet scheme provides to both those taking part and the wider public. He also took questions and thanked the cadets for playing an important part in Lancashire’s communities.

Assistant Chief Constable Stasia Osiowy, who is force lead for volunteers in policing, also spoke with the cadets about her pride in overseeing the scheme.

The Police Cadet Scheme teaches young people a range of skills and basic knowledge in a variety of policing activities. There are eleven cadet units across Lancashire, based at colleges across the county.

Clive Grunshaw, Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire, said:

“Seeing so many young people together, all of whom are an important, valued part of our policing family, and having the opportunity to thank them for all they do, was a fantastic way to celebrate the first ever National Cadets Week.

“Talking with the cadets and answering their questions, it was great to hear their passion and interest in policing and helping other people.

“Our communities are stronger for the events they take part in and projects they deliver, whilst also strengthening relationships between the Constabulary and the people that they are there to protect.”

Assistant Chief Constable Stasia Osiowy said: “It is fantastic to see so many people volunteering as police cadets.

“They are part of the wider police family and make an important contribution to public confidence in Lancashire.”
