The report shows Lancashire recorded its lowest number of homicides in over ten years, with no homicide victims under 25 for the second year running, alongside a 15% fall in knife crime and a 31% reduction in hospital admissions for sharp‑object injuries.
Key programmes also saw strong results. The Champions mentoring service supported 481 young people, with 81% showing positive outcomes in reducing offending, while Emergency Department Navigators assisted 599 patients, with 96% not re‑attending with a violence‑related injury.
The 2025 report highlights the expansion of trauma‑informed training, with over 2,134 practitioners trained in 2025, and ongoing innovation in policing tactics through the GRIP programme, contributing to a 12% reduction in crime and 13% reduction in serious violence in targeted areas.
More than 3,000 residents also shared their experiences in the county‑wide Community Safety Survey, providing key insights to shape future priorities.
Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw who oversees the LVRN said:
“These results show that violence is preventable when partners work together.
“Serious violence is corrosive and can destroy lives and can damage entire communities. That is why getting tough on serious violent crime is a Police and Crime Plan priority and I’m pleased to see Lancashire making real improvements in safety through early intervention, trauma‑informed practice and strong community engagement.
“I want to thank every partner, practitioner, mentor, volunteer and young person who has worked to ensure the ongoing success of Lancashire’s VRN. I will continue to support the VRN to drive evidence‑led prevention, strengthen collaboration, and protect the most vulnerable in our communities.”
The Lancashire Violence Reduction Network (LVRN), part of the Office of the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner, works under Commissioner Clive Grunshaw to bring together organisations across local communities to tackle the underlying causes that contribute to serious violent crime.
