The Commissioner will be awarding up to £5,000 to projects that deliver short term, time specific intervention projects which have strong links with their local policing team or local Community Safety Partnership.
This follows the award of close to £90k to support diversionary activity projects targeting vulnerable young people throughout the summer holiday period to help them gain new experiences and keep them safe, whilst reducing demand on policing and protecting our neighbourhoods.
Commissioner Grunshaw said: “I am keen to work with local organisations to tackle problems within their neighbourhoods through prevention, diversion and intervention.
“Policing can’t solve crime and anti-social behaviour in isolation and utilising the local knowledge and understanding of our partners, businesses or third sector organisations is really important.
“I want to empower communities to take new and creative approaches to tackle local issues head on and my Community Fund is a great tool to make this happen.”
The Fund utilises money seized from criminals and invests it back into local communities to make a lasting difference to neighbourhoods across Lancashire.
Applications can be submitted from Monday, 2nd of September until Monday, 23rd of September 2024, 8.30am.
Full application details and fund criteria can be found at lancashire-pcc.gov.uk/grant-funding.
