Commissioner Grunshaw discussed with Lorraine Beavers MP the issues being raised by constituents, and heard from the members of the policing team how in Bispham, and across the wider Blackpool North and Fleetwood areas, neighbourhood officers are proactively dealing with them.
Some of the main concerns included road safety and anti-social behaviour, including the illegal use of e-scooters and e-bikes, alongside shoplifting and drug dealing.
The Commissioner highlighted the priorities in his upcoming Police and Crime Plan, which will focus on rebuilding neighbourhood policing and increasing the public’s confidence in policing to be there when needed.
Clive Grunshaw, Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire said:
“It’s an important part of my job as Commissioner to work closely with our Members of Parliament, listen to what they are hearing from constituents on crime and policing and strengthen relationships across all stakeholders in the county to make Lancashire’s voice heard.
“We discussed how Op Centurion, which is tackling anti-social behaviour and working to make communities feel safer, is making a difference across the areas of Blackpool and and Wyre that make up the Constituency, dealing with local concerns. We also talked about the ways I am working with Government to tackle crime and deliver the best possible service to the public.
“As Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, I will continue to work closely with the Chief Constable, ensuring that through strong leadership, we deliver the effective policing we all want to see.”
Lorraine Beavers MP added:
“One of the most common things I am contacted about is antisocial behaviour. It was good to meet Clive and to hear that tackling this is a priority for him as well.
“The work that Operation Centurion is undertaking is making a difference locally, however Clive and I still recognise that more needs to be done. We will be banging the drum in London to make sure that our area and our police get the resources they need to be as effective as possible.”
