Commissioner invests £64k seized from criminals into projects reducing reoffending

Local organisations were invited to apply for grants of up to £5,000 to deliver schemes across Lancashire, with projects focusing on targeted interventions, practical support and specialist advice.

The funding, seized from criminals, has now been reinvested into 13 projects designed to prevent repeat offending, support rehabilitation, and address the underlying causes of crime.

In 2025/26, the Commissioner has invested more than £700,000 into a wide range of initiatives that reflect the publics’ priorities as set out in his Police and Crime Plan. This includes tackling antisocial behaviour, preventing violence against women and girls and supporting victims of crime.

Commissioner Grunshaw said:

“Breaking the cycle of reoffending and ensuring ex-offenders do not return to the criminal justice system makes our communities safer, is cost effective and changes lives.

“By using seized criminal cash to help make Lancashire a safer place, we are preventing people from becoming victims and reducing pressure on policing resources, as officers work around the clock to tackle crime and bring offenders to justice.

“Investing in targeted projects across Lancashire empowers local organisations, strengthens public trust and contributes to safer communities.

“I will continue to work closely with the Chief Constable, partners and community organisations to deliver the priorities in my Police and Crime Plan and ensure Lancashire remains a safe place for all.”
