Commissioner Grunshaw and his Office show support for White Ribbon

The campaign challenges harmful attitudes, behaviours and systems around rigid gender norms and harmful expressions of masculinity that perpetuate gender inequality and gender-based violence.

Commissioner Grunshaw said: “Violence against Women and Girls is completely unacceptable and tackling this issue will be a key priority in my new Police and Crime Plan for Lancashire which will launch next month.

“The 25th Of November marks White Ribbon Day and supporting the White Ribbon Campaign sends a clear message – we won’t stand for it here in Lancashire.

“In my role, I have the opportunity to bring about real change and my Office will take the lead on the development of a pan-Lancashire Partnership VAWG Strategy to ensure a shared vision and plan for our county to keep local women and girls safe.

“I will commission local services to ensure that victims of crimes such as stalking, domestic abuse, rape and sexual violence have access to the expert advice and emotional support they need and deserve to help them cope and recover.

“I have already convened Lancashire’s MPs in Westminster to start work on our joint vision for the future and by working with partners as well as through education and awareness raising we can challenge and change harmful attitudes, practices and social norms to make Lancashire a safer place for all.”
