Arrests continue to soar as part of Op Centurion

Approximately 10 seized e-bikes and e-scooters

The action has been taken as part of Operation Centurion, an ongoing campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour backed by Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.
In addition to an increasing number of arrests, there’s been a significant increase in the number of Civil Orders being issued too, with almost 1,000 Criminal Behaviour Orders, Community Protection Notices and other Civil Orders used. Finally, 85 Closure Notices have been issued and six premises closed by Police as a direct result of antisocial behaviour.
Officers have relentlessly pursued anti-social drivers too, with 358 vehicles seized under Section 59 powers and 979 e-bikes and quads removed from the county’s streets.

Commenting on the figures, Chief Inspector Chris Abbott said:

“People tell us loud and clear that anti-social behaviour is a priority for them. Offences like drug dealing, criminal damage, nuisance bikes and dangerous driving are a blight on our local communities. We are listening and taking firm action.

“As part of Operation Centurion we’ve stepped up patrols in key areas and we are using every power at our disposal to curb anti-social behaviour across Lancashire.

“This has including arresting people and putting them before the courts, but also curbing their behaviour with Civil Orders and in some cases closing down properties and crushing vehicles.

“My message to offenders is clear; anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in our local communities. Where offences are reported and evidence exists, robust measures will be taken as these new statistics show.”

Commissioner Clive Grunshaw added:

“It’s great to see the continued success of Op Centurion. Anti-social behaviour affects lives and livelihoods and officers are using all tools at their disposal to prevent and tackle issues across Lancashire.

“Offenders must know that crime and ASB, even at low level, will be punished and I will continue to support Lancashire Constabulary to take firm action.”
