Commissioner Grunshaw and West Lancashire MP walk the beat in Burscough

During the visit, they discussed a range of local concerns, including anti-social behaviour, youth provision and speeding.

The Commissioner also praised Lancashire Police’s ongoing efforts to tackle the illegal use of e-scooters and e-bikes, supported by the introduction of a fleet of six on- and off-road bikes. As part of Operation Centurion, specially trained officers are using the vehicles to patrol areas that were previously difficult to access, helping to prevent anti-social behaviour and respond more effectively to community concerns.

Following the visit, Commissioner Grunshaw said:

“It’s always valuable to spend time in our communities and hear first-hand about the issues that matter most to local people, as well as the positive impact local officers are having by addressing those concerns.

“As the public’s voice in policing, it is particularly encouraging to hear how positively local officers engage with the communities they serve and the strong relationships they continue to build.

“A key part of my role is working closely with those who know their areas best. Engaging with local MPs is an important way of understanding local priorities and ensuring we continue to deliver the high-quality policing service that the people of Lancashire expect and deserve.”

“It was really interesting and productive to spend time with Clive and local police officers in Burscough.

“I was particularly pleased to hear that local officers are really embedded in the community in Burscough, getting to know children, families and individuals on a personal level. There’s a great focus on crime prevention, something which I’m very passionate about myself.

“The Labour government is committed to tackling anti-social behaviour, through more police and police community support officers patrolling locally and I’m really pleased that we’re leading the way in West Lancashire.”
