Commissioner Grunshaw and Pendle and Clitheroe MP walk beat in East Lancashire

During the visit, Commissioner Grunshaw and the MP spoke with officers about concerns raised by local people, including dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour. They also heard about the ongoing efforts to tackle these issues and to keep communities safe.

The visit provided an opportunity to see the work carried out by neighbourhood policing teams first-hand and to discuss how police and partners can continue to respond to local priorities.

Following the visit, Commissioner Grunshaw said:

“It was a pleasure to join Jonathan in Nelson and hear directly from officers about the work taking place to address concerns raised by residents.

“Whilst there is always more work to be done, it was heartening to hear about officers’ proactive efforts to tackle local concerns head on. I was particularly impressed to hear about their expertise in roads policing, an area of concern raised by some residents.

“Strong neighbourhood policing and meaningful community engagement are vital to building safer communities. As Police and Crime Commissioner, I remain committed to ensuring Lancashire residents feel safe, supported and heard.”

Jonathan Hinder MP added:

“I am pleased that Pendle, and Nelson in particular, now has such a strong neighbourhood and organised crime team, and it was good to raise some of the more frequent complaints I hear from residents, such as dangerous driving and illegal fireworks late at night, with local officers. I was also happy to hear that officers are settling in well to the brand-new Pendle Police Station, which provides a modern base for all Pendle officers, just off the M65 on Carr Road.”
