Commissioner and Deputy visit Emily Davison Centre to see how funding is making a difference

The Emily Davison Centre is uniquely positioned to offer its users a wide variety of support services depending on their needs. This includes domestic abuse services, stalking support, counselling, projects to support children and young children as well as those from ethnic minority backgrounds, all supporting both people in the local area and across Lancashire.

Commissioner Grunshaw has awarded close to £142,000 to a range of services and projects through his Community Fund, Violence Against Women and Girls Fund and Ministry of Justice funding secured by his Office.

Following the visit, Commissioner Grunshaw said: “The Emily Davison Centre is a fantastic resource for the local area and across Lancashire.

“It was great to speak to service managers and staff today, the work they do is so important and, in many cases, life changing.

“Preventing Violence against Women and Girls is a key priority in my Police and Crime Plan and many of the services based here are working towards the same goal.

“I’m really pleased to be able to support these services and I will continue to work closely with them to ensure that vulnerable people have access to dedicated services when they need them most.”

Debbie Fawcett, Founder of the Emily Davison Centre and CEO of Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Domestic Abuse Team, added: “It was great to welcome the Commissioner today and to showcase the important work of the services based within the centre, and discuss the challenges we face.

“The funding we receive through the Commissioner’s Office allows us to set up additional projects, build on existing services, and ultimately to support more Lancashire residents, which is exactly what we aim to do.
