There has been much written about the role of a PCC since the election, but to put it simply; my role is to be your voice in policing; to engage and listen and then reflect back your views when working with the Constabulary and partners. I provide the strategic direction for policing in Lancashire and it’s my job to bring together, those wider organisations that work to cut crime.

We all know that Lancashire is a safe county. It benefits from low crime rates and is a great place to live and work. I, like you, want to keep it that way.

Since taking up my post I have put you, Lancashire residents at the centre of my work. I have travelled the length and breadth of Lancashire, getting out and about via my community road shows, talking to you directly; and I know that local priorities, locally focussed services and strong community involvement are the backbone to improving policing.

I am pleased to say that my first Police and Crime plan is built upon your views. I have listened to what you have told me at my roadshows, through surveys, and in the many letters, emails and comments that you have sent me.
